All the Same

"We all live with the objective of being happy; our lives are all different, and yet the same." Anne Frank

Sometimes I think about all the people around the globe....how we all live such different lives....speaking different languages. Some of us have every material thing you can think of......others just scaping by.. Some are alone with no one in their corner.....others surrounded with tons of family and friends.

But no matter how different we look.....or act.....or what our traditions are.....all of us want the same things. We all want to be loved....and accepted....and we all want to know our lives have purpose.

I walked around with this huge hole inside for a long time....always aching...always hungry...yearning for something....but didn't even know what. Now...I do know. What I wanted.....what I really needed....was for someone to say I mattered....that I was worth something - to have someone care....care enough to stay....to be in my corner....and to believe in me.

I wanted someone to care without trying to fit me into a mold.....their slant of how I 'should' or 'should' not be ......without trying to change me to fit into their idea of right or wrong. When I resisted.....I was told I didn't want to be healthy....or free.

No one really knows what's in anybody's heart....but there's one thing I believe....that all of us....young or old.....male or female....whatever one's nationality.....or race......we all want the same thing.....to be loved and accepted just for being who we are.

Yes, that would be nice...to not have to "pretend" to be someone you're not - for fear of being rejected if anyone knew who you really are, where you really came from.

Yes, your words are so true. It is the longing of every heart - to be loved, to be accepted.

And I am so glad you have discovered that, in our heavenly Father.

But also, in blog world, there is so much acceptance and affirmation. I pray dear Nikki that you will continue to receive the healing for the many wounds that the enemy has inflicted on you.

Yes we all have been wounded in different ways - so I always try to reach out to another hoping my kind words of understanding will be as the healing balm of Jesus to a wounded soul.

Be blessed today dear friend.

Mill of hugs. It is good to become oneself and even more sometimes daring to show it.

yes, that's it. We all want to be loved and accepted and sometimes we become what others want us to be just so they may love us.
We lose ourselves in that pursuit

You are so right my dear Sarah, but that acceptance must start in ourselves, loving ourselves is the root to it all... otherwise we would not even noticed what the others feel about us...

You said it. I know that is the truth for me and I am sure for so many! We are all really alike.

The Beatles were right: all you need is love. It's so interesting that a person can have literally nothing to their name but if someone loves them they might even be happy. And it's interesting that a person can have every luxury ever but if no one loves them they might feel empty.

I know at least for me, personally, not having someone love me has really contributed to my depression.

Thanks for this post. It was very wise.

Wishing you well,
NOS

Sarah, I agree we're all searching for a safe place to be completely ourselves yet loved completely in spite of all our shortcomings.

I agree with Dulce!!I think everything starts with loving ourselves in spite of the pains that life and people have brought upon us.

But it is also a joy that we know we are accepted and loved for who we truly are and not what they picture us to be.

Amen! So very true...that aching hole is in every person...we can try to fill it up with the things of this world, but until we let God fill that empty spot...we will never be whole....

Amen Sarah, Amen! Can you imagine what this world would be like if we would just love one another and not judge from what is on the outside, but for what is on the inside. Beautiful!

To be loved and accepted just for being who we are...

Is there any other greater gift from God than His unconditional LOVE and His gracious ACCEPTANCE? Who can measure the beauty of that...

GOD BLESS, Sarah - you are a precious jewel to the Master - just the way you are.

Thank you for your comment on my blog!
You are right, we all need love. We were created to love and to be loved. We need love.

It is sad when one goes after something or someone that will not fulfill the need. Only God can and it's amazing when someone realizes that...that He alone completes us!

God bless and protect you sister.

One of my favorite quotes.

"I believe the greatest gift I can conceive of having from anyone is to be seen by them, heard by them, to be understood and touched by them. The greatest gift I can give is to see, hear, and understand and to touch another person. When this is done I feel contact has been made." -VS

And yet there's so much conflict in this world of strangers. But deep down we do all want the same thing. We are more alike than different. We all need God...
