Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.  Berthold Auerbach

Music.....it has an amazing ability to go deep down inside to those places that need something to hang onto.....something to connect with......those times that feel empty....lonely...afraid. But also those times of being happy.

I used to listen to hard rock...the stuff that connected with the part of me that hated everything....that was angry...that hurt so bad and wondered why I was even alive. I played the tunes over and over letting the words and the beat....feed my soul....and pump me to fight back.....first with hate....now with hope.

Music used to confirm my sense of hopelessness.....But now it pushes me to try one more time...to hold on.....to know there's a purpose....a reason for living....a reason for being me...

I love getting in the car.....cranking up the music.....and letting it pull me to another level....to a place that makes me want to reach higher...and live my best life.

Music reflects my mood. It puts a voice to the feelings inside....the ones I don't know how to express. The sounds...the words...the rhythm reminds me that everything will be okay.....the bad will turn around. Doubts...fears will lose their hold.....and even when I'm tired...exhausted.....music renews....refreshes and comforts in ways that only it can do. The songs I listen to now give hope....enouragement.....and always fill me with a sense of passion and renewal.

I used to listen to music on really loud volumes; so loud that I couldn't hear the thoughts in my head. Now, it's been a while since I've heard any music- a long while. Lyrics will always be special nonetheless. :)

Wow, I can really relate to this post! My taste in music changes with my mood-- sometimes if I'm feeling down I'll play solemn or slower music to reflect it. Other times when I'm feeling down I play upbeat music to try and lift my music.

But for me it's not just listening to music-- it's playing it too! I have played the piano, clarinet, and bass clarinet since I was young and they have always been an outlet for my emotions. Somehow it soothes me. (And then other times it's a source of fun!)

Wishing you well,

Music strongly reflects my mood and where I am. I have listened to Broadway tunes when that is what I connected with, very romantic music when my heart ache and nothing when my mind is troubled.
I can relate...

You have put into words almost everything that I feel about music. Just like you, music has a special place in my heart. It propels me to seek God, and draws me closer to him.

Music is the language of the soul.

I believe that eternity will be one lovely endless song and dance...

Nikki, I really love the way you express your heart. How hard rock used to be the kind of music that eased your pain... but now all that has changed.

Thank you for being a special friend to me... our lives really connect at a deeper level.

Your story is such an encouragement to me - that indeed God is able to restore and redeem the broken places of our lives!

Hi Sarah,
I agree with you, sweetheart.
I love Music too!!
Music takes me to places that I thought I would never reach. I feel as if I were on the summit, on top of the mountain touching the clouds, or even the sky.
I guess, we share the same taste for music, Sarah.
God bless!!

Yes, indeed - I think music has to be one of God's greatest gifts. It touches the soul like almost nothing else. I can hardly wait to join the heavenly choir praising the Lord in His very presence!

God Bless!

Music is fantastic. It does reflect and lift our moods. Music often speaks when words can't.

Isn't it amazing what music can do? Anytime I'm down I just play some happy songs, and I'm back on the clouds again. :D
